RULES FOR THE CANNES WORLD GAME CUP 2010 - EN 1. The Place The event known as "The World Game Cup 2010" will take place in the Palais des Festivals of the city of Cannes at 15 Rue Jean de Riouffe 06400 Cannes.
The tournaments will be take place at niveau -1 (underground level -1) in the zone jeux vidéo (video games area) of the Festival International des Jeux.
2. Date & TimeThe event known as "The World Game Cup 2010" will take place from Wednesday March the 3rd 2010 to Sunday March the 7th 2010.
The Palais des Festivals and our registration area will be open at 1.30 PM on Wednesday March the 3rd, Thursday March the 4th and Friday March the 5th 2010.
On Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th 2010, it will open at 10 AM.
The closing time of The Palais des Festivals and of our registration area will be at 8 PM every day.
Entrance to the Festival International des Jeux is free.
3. Unfolding of the Game Phases 3.1 Player's ReceptionAll players will have to go to the registration station situated in the aforementioned suitable area.
3.2 Training Zone & Competition ZoneThe players who payed their entry fee will have access to two separate zones:
- The Training Zone, where they will be able to freely try and train on the games which are not in competition at the moment.
- The Competition Zone, where they will be able to train for the tournaments to come, if they registered for them.
The Competition Zone is only available to the players who registered for the current tournament.
3.3 Pools Phasetournaments
The players will be called to take part in the pools of the tournament(s) they signed up for.
The players which will win the most matches will then go to the next phase.

In case players have the same number of victories:
1/ The players with the most round wins are qualified (or favored).
2/ If the players have also won the same number of rounds, then the player which has won the match between the two tied players during the pools phase, is qualified (or favored).
3/ In case of a three-way (or more) tie in which all the later elements would converge to result in a perfect equality between several players. Extra instant-death 1 win matches will then be organized to decide a winner between the competitors.
If the pools are composed of 4 players/teams, 2 are qualified. If they're 8, 4 are qualified, etc. Except in the 32 pools of 8 format, where only 2 are qualified.
3.4 Knockout PhaseThe players who are victorious after the Pools Phase will go on to the Knockout Phase.
During this phase, the players will face each other to get to the Finals Phase.
Some tournaments are "double bracketed" (using double elimination) allowing a player who already lost a match to continue to compete in the tournament. (with the exclusion of CVS2 for which the loser of the match can replace his team)
General Rules for the solo tournaments of the Main Event:- All the pool matches use a first to 2 wins format (the number of rounds will remain game specific).
- All the solo tournaments (except for BlazBlue and The King Of Fighters 2002 UM) are double bracketed after the pools.
- In single elimination tournaments, all the matches will use a first to 2 wins format, except for the finals which will use first to 3 wins.
- In double elimination tournaments, all the matches of the winner bracket will use a first to 2 wins format.
- All the matches of the loser bracket will also use a first to 2 wins format.
- tournaments The Grand Final, opposing the winners of both the winner & loser brackets will use a first to 3 wins format.
General Rules for the team tournaments of the Main Event:- All the matches are elimination style first to beat all the members of the opposing team 1 leg matches.
- All the tournaments use simple elimination brackets after the pools.
- Only 1 leg per team matches even during the finals.
3.5 Finals The winner of the loser bracket and the winner of the winner bracket will face each other during the finals.
The winner of the loser bracket must win 2 legs to be victorious.
The winner of the winner bracket must win 1 leg to be victorious.
3.6 Prize Ceremony. The player winning the Grand Final will be given a cash prize money sum related to the number of players of the said tournament and a cup (or medal).
Winnings split for the solo tournaments:
1st: 70% of the total sum of the registration fees.
2nd: 20% of the total sum of the registration fees.
3rd: 10% of the total sum of the registration fees.
Winnings split for the team tournaments:
The total sum will be given to the team captain, which will then freely split it between the team members.
1st: 80% of the total sum of the registration fees.
2nd: 20% of the total sum of the registration fees.
(Prize money will be paid after the event by cheque or bank transfer)

Be advised that for all these tournaments, you must come with your own accessories (adapters included). The organization simply won't be able to lend pads, adapters and/or sticks.
You will of course be allowed to borrow accessories from other players, but it mustn't be a bother or holdup the competition (as you might get disqualified if that's the case).
All game controllers allowing macros/cheats are strictly forbidden, as are the activation of turbo/automatic modes on any allowed controller.
6. Registration & FeesTo register Online, go to:

6.1 Online Registration
The player can choose the tournaments he wishes to attend. Online payment must be made by PayPal.
Please note that for team tournaments, the registration will only be accepted once all of the members will have payed.
- Price per head for a tournament of the Main Event: 10€ (10.60€ with PayPal commissions).
- You're guaranteed a spot for your tournament(s).
- You must register for the draw of the pools. I will take place between 1.30 PM & 2 PM on Friday and 10 AM & 11 AM on Sunday. If you haven't registered by then, your participation will be canceled and the fee won't be refunded.
To validate this step, you must first pre-register (see section 6.2), then foot the bill by PayPal. Once the payment is confirmed to us, your status will change to "registered" on the website's Registration List.
So you can pre-register now, and pay later, up to a week before the beginning of the event.
6.2 Online Pre-registrationYou can just choose the tournaments you wish to attend & then pay once you're there.
Please note that for team tournaments, the registration will only be accepted once all of the members will have payed.
- Price per head for a tournament of the Main Event: 15 euros.
- There is no guarantee you'll get a space: the players who paid Online come first, but you'll get priority over the players who wish to attend the tournament(s) but haven't pre-registered Online and who will be facing a first-come, first-served situation.
- You must register for the draw of the pools & pay before you can play. I will take place between 1.30 PM & 2 PM on Friday and 10 AM & 11 AM on Sunday. If you haven't registered by then, your participation will be canceled.
The registration of the team will only be accepted once all of its members have payed the fee.
6.3 Registering on the SpotIf you get to the event empty handed, you can always register and pay as you get there.
- Price per head for a tournament of the Main Event: 15€
- There is no guarantee you'll get a space: the players who paid Online and those whose simply have pre-registered Online will have priority. So you will be facing a first-come, first-served situation & will only be able to attend if there's a spot left.
- You must pay before you play, you'll be able to between 1.30 PM & 2 PM on Friday and 10 AM & 11 AM on Sunday. If you haven't registered by then, you won't be able to do so.
The registration of the team will only be accepted once all of its members have payed the fee.
6.4 The Waiting ListAs you might have noticed, every registration option has its "status" & priorities.
If a player comes & gets to the event empty handed, without having at least pre-registered, he will be put on a waiting list (on a first-come, first-served basis) until the time limit for the confirmation of the pre-registrations has passed. Then, if the tournaments are not fully booked, he will get a chance to attend. If some spots are left, they will be given in concordance with the waiting list.
6.5 The Registration Fee
Keep in mind the the registration fee per head is set at 10€ Online (10.60€ with PayPal commissions) & 15€ on the spot. The same price for whichever tournament of the Main Event you wish to attend. The difference is quite big (50%), so think ahead!
For the team tournaments, this fee must be payed by every member of the team.
6.6 Side Tournament RegistrationThe side tournament registration (for tourneys from Wednesday to Thursday) will only be available on the spot, on the same day.
7. WinningsThe totality of the sum of the registration fees of the tournaments of the Main Event (except for BlazBlue) will be given out to the winners of the respective tournaments.
These winnings will thus be related to the number of players who registered for the said tournament, and the sum to earn will be a total of the feesLes dotations sont donc variables selon le nombre d'inscrits, et le montant même de ces inscriptions (10€ Online & 15€ on the spot).
Please note that the Main Event BlazBlue Tournament event is part of the BlazBlue League Tour organized by Games-Fed for the Official European Release of the game. The winner of this Main Event tourney will win a prize (video game related goodies) and a spot in the French national finals.
There is no cash prize for the Main Event BlazBlue Tournament.
8. Intellectual Property Rights WaverAny one person completing the registration for a tournament of the event known as "The World Game Cup 2010" gives its organization the right to use the photo or video image of the said person for promotion use. One can deny the use of its image when confirming its registration.
9. DisqualificationAny player refusing to respect the schedule created by the organization will be disqualified & won't be refunded.
The players will be called to play by the referees, if they aren't in the tournament zone by the third (3rd) call, they will be disqualified.
Under such circumstances, it is highly recommended that the players remain in the Competition Zone for the whole duration of the tournament(s) they signed up for.
Please be advised the organization of the event known as "The World Game Cup 2010" reserves the right to disqualify a participant if:
- The player tries, by any means possible, to cheat during a tournament.
- The player utters insults or threats towards other players.
- The player has a racist behavior, is violent and/or reviling.
The registration of a player in a tournament of the World Game Cup includes an explicit and total acceptance of the rules & regulations of the games in competition.
